Nvidia Enjoys Record Sales Amid Thriving PC Games Business

Chipmaker Nvidia has reported what it deems as "record" sales for the three months sales period between November and January, due to a spike in demand for its new Maxwell graphics cards. The corporation's revenue for the quarter was put at $1.25 billion, up by 9 percent from the same period last year, due in part by the availability of second-generation GeForce GPUs such as the GTX 980. Nvidia says money from its GeForce GPUs climbed by 38 percent, pushing profits up by a third to reach $193 million. For the full year, total revenue climbed to $4.7 billion and net profits hit $630 million. However, sales results of the company's micro-console, the Nvidia Shield, were not disclosed.
